THK, the leading global designer, developer and manufacturer of linear motion solutions, has launched a number of new additions to its proven range of performance ballscrews. Designed for use throughout industry, the new ballscrews are particularly suitable for applications where high speeds, heavy loads and extended operating life, with minimal maintenance are required.
The new ballscrews have been introduced to extend the SBN, SBK and HBN product ranges and, in each case, incorporate THK’s patented Caged Ball™ technology. This improves overall performance, while significantly reducing levels of friction, heat and noise. Indeed, so effective is the Caged Ball system that in the new SBN, for example, noise levels have been reduced by as much as 6dBA, when compared with conventional devices.
Perhaps as importantly, the new ballscrews are capable of transporting exceptionally heavy loads, with the HBN in particular being rated by up to 3390kN. The latest versions of the HBN are now available in larger shaft sizes, of 80mm, 100mm and 120mm, all of which have an enhanced design of ball recirculating mechanism, giving DN ratings of 130,000 for high speed operation.
The latest SBN ballscrews, have been introduced for applications where smaller, more compact devices are required. They are now available with shaft diameters of 16, 20, 25 and 28mm and with lead sizes of 4, 5 and 6 mm, yet are still capable of operating at a DN value of 130,000. Similarly, the SBK is capable of achieving a maximum feed speed of 200mm/second. This is made possible due to the incorporation of an ideal ball recirculation method that picks up the balls directly in the tangential direction.
A range of accessories are available to further enhance the performance of the HBN, SBN and SBK ballscrews, including THK’s unique QZ lubrication system, that gives significantly extended maintenance intervals with reduced usage of lubricants. Furthermore, a new ‘wiper ring’ sealing system is also available. Utilising an integrated spring mechanism, the wiper ring is always in contact with the surface of the shaft, wiping off dust and debris and reducing contamination damage.
