THK, the world’s leading developer and manufacturer of linear motion technology, has launched a new miniature linear motion system that combines actuator, drive motor, power supply and cabling in a single integrated unit.  Introduced for use in a wide range of applications where space restricts or the need to move or position small assemblies or components dictate the use of miniaturised handling mechanisms. The new system will enable OEMs, machine builders and end users to cut both the cost and time required in specifying, designing, fitting and maintaining linear motion equipment.

Called the Mini KRE, the new miniature system is one of the first to be introduced as a result of the strategic alliance between THK, Parker-Digiplan and HMK and is supplied as a complete solution, tested and programmed ready for installation.  The package is also available with Renishaw linear encoder

The Mini KRE is based on THK’s KR Actuator, complemented by a Parker DIN rail stepper system or ViX servo drive and Renishaw linear encoder, with system programming being provided by technical specialists from HMK.

Michael Pearce, Business Manager for THK UK, explains that the Mini KRE, “Is the latest in a new generation of linear motion products that meet the growing demand from customers for proven technical solutions that help them to cut system design and build time and eliminate multiple component sourcing, without affecting quality, reliability, performance or functionality”.

One of the key benefits of the new Mini KRE is its high level of accuracy and continuous or incremental motion control, typically to within 20 microns when using a stepper motor, at speeds of up to 50mm/sec, making the system ideal for high speed pick and place operations used in applications such as electronics and silicon chip production.

In addition, the miniature actuator provides high accuracy and rigidity and with a stainless steel construction sealed with ultra low grease is ideal for clean environments or where space is restricted. The actuator unit measures only 23mm in height by 30mm in width.

The new Mini KRE system is available in a range of stroke lengths, with other options including choice of IP rating, brake system and panel or DIN mounting for the motor units.
